The Cayenne S was treated to a new front end and widened wheel arches for 2007, which went some way to counter criticism of the original car’s appearance.

The V8 engine was increased in capacity from 4.5 to 4.8-litres which, in turn, saw the maximum power rise to 385bhp, from 340bhp.

However, the big news was the adoption of Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) which, combined with an aerodynamic improvement, saw fuel consumption decrease to 19.0mpg on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).
